Sod Install Team Member

Job Number: 2

Permanent   |  Ameliasburg, Ontario   |  Posted on Jan 08, 2021 ← Back

Start Date for early Spring

Here is a chance to do work you can feel good about at the end of the day. We’ve got leadership opportunities, lots hours available to work, good pay and plenty of room to grow!

We are a sod farm located in the County about 15 minutes south of the bay bridge. We boast a fun, welcoming work environment and incredible team of people for you to call coworkers. We take care of our staff by offering good wages, available benefits, and a monthly bonus program.

The Company: We are making our area (literally) greener every day. Willowlee is a green certified, water saving, problem solving machine. We offer customers products and solutions to make their lawns as great as they can be because green space is so important. We could talk about it for days, but we’ll focus on the job…

We have about 25 staff involved in a number of areas including the install crew, grading teams, hydroseeding, and farm operations. There are opportunities to grow into any of these positions if you are a good fit! We believe in great people accomplishing great things.

The Position: We are looking for a sod install crew labourer who

  • Has a fantastic attitude
  • Is willing to work outside in all conditions
  • Is eager to impress and do a great job
  • Is fit but not necessarily “super strong” *
  • Is punctual and reliable.

We offer $17/hour to start, with room for raises and promotions based on skills and work ethic. Typically, as long as we don’t get ‘rained-out’ we will work about 45-50 hours each week. We aim to have a start date each year of May 3. It could be earlier or later depending on weather. We will work until the ground freezes, normally around November and sometimes later in the year if possible. Winter employment in snow removal is offered.

Each day we travel together to a different jobsite anywhere between Port Hope and Gananoque and sometimes as far north as Bancroft. Usually we will be working in Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Belleville or Kingston. We do a combination of industrial and residential jobs.

*A “Sod Bod” (defined as a body with specific sod moving muscles developed) will be built throughout the season. A typical roll of sod is 20-30 pounds and you will handle hundreds each day.

Send your resume to erin.willowlee@gmail.com or apply through Landscape.jobs, or come drop your resume off at the office (907 Victoria Road, Ameliasburg) and introduce yourself. We are so looking forward to meeting applicants! You can always call the office at 613 968 0338 if you have questions
