Horticultural Property Maintenance Crew Member

Cressman Tree Maintenance & Landscaping Ltd. is a family-owned and operated company which has grown in the Cobourg area since February 1984. With over 35 years in the business, we are an established company with steady growth and are looking for qualified people who can help us continue that trend. We are seeking Full-Time Horticultural Property Maintenance Crew Members who work well with others, take pride in their work, and can deliver a high standard of workmanship in an efficient manner. This is seasonal work with the possibility of winter snow removal work.
Job Duties:
* Execution of maintenance projects including; cutting grass, trimming edges, cleaning up trimmings, pruning shrubs, fertilizing, weeding, mulching, watering and performing other lawn care duties
* Spread top soil, lay sod, plant – flowers, grass, shrubs and trees, and perform other duties to maintain and establish the beautification of properties
* Safely operate and maintain riding mowers, weed-eaters and other property maintenance equipment (leaf blowers, hand-held tools, etc.)
* Spring and Fall property clean-ups
* Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments
Job Requirements:
* Horticultural Technician Diploma is an asset
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in the landscape maintenance/construction industry
* Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
* Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Personable to clients and other employees
* Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
* Must be able to lift 25lbs consistently
* Plant knowledge and experience in plant care is an asset
* Snow removal experience is an asset
* A valid G driver’s license is an asset
* First Aid certification is an asset
* Successful candidate should be prepared to work in all weather conditions
Type of work: Sodding, planting, lawn and property maintenance, soft scaping and hardscaping work, as well as some carpentry and demolition
Work Experience: 1-3 years
Work Week: Monday to Friday (40-50 hours per week). April through to December is typical. (may be required to work the occasional Saturday)
Wage: will be based on experience
